As reported elsewhere across the web, Battlegames magazine has ceased publication of it’s paper issues with immediate effect.
I’ve reported my own feelings of this news elsewhere – However, I did want to say that this news does have implications on VftV podcast. Henry has been sponsoring the bandwidth for the podcast since I split the RSS feed. I do not know what is likely to happen moving forward.
In all honesty, this is something that I have yet to discuss with Henry – he has far more pressing things to concern him at present – but I just wanted to post a heads-up to say that things are likely to change in the next few weeks.
I’ll keep you posted.
I am currently in the process of swapping the archive of VftV episodes from the Meeples & Miniatures feed to the VftV feed in iTunes.
So, the old episodes will be appearing on the new feed over the next few days – do not be alarmed!
Henry - ready for Battle
On the 1st October, Henry Hyde – editor of Battlegames magazine and co-host of View from the Veranda – is embarking on a fundraising march in aid of the Combat Stress
Henry has been a long time supporter of this charity, and with this sponsored walk, he is aiming to take the amount of money raised for the charity past the £10,000 mark.
Henry will be walking from Battle Abbey (near Hastings) to Lewes Castle – almost 25 miles – which he is aiming to complete in approx 8 hours (including the odd comfort break!)
He will be joined in this endeavour by Simone Drinkwater from Casemate Publishing, who is raising money for The Hepetitis C Trust.
Please join with me in supporting these guys by visiting The Sussex March page on the Just Giving website – I certainly wish them all the very best.
Just had this news from iTunes:
Your podcast, located at http://vftv.libsyn.com/rssi, has been approved. You should expect to see it on the iTunes Store within the next few hours. When it’s available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
Your podcast will be findable through a search within the iTunes Store in approximately one to two days.
Hopefully things should be fully available by the weekend. Thanks for your patience.
I’ve now posted details of the Podcast RSS feed in a tab at the top of the website – please use this to link to the show if you are not using iTunes or the website to download.
Welcome to Episode #7 of View from the Veranda
Download Episode #7
In this show, Henry and I discuss what the differences are between gaming and wargaming, but only after talking about making your own terrain, the start of the recent “The Grenouissian Intermezzo” and just how far Henry has got with his book.
So, pull up a chair and join us on the Veranda…
Henry Hyde, one of the intrepid presenters of the View from the Veranda podcast, has recently been interviewed by Jonathan J. Reinhart of the CWF Game Cast.
This extensive covers all sorts of stuff that listeners to VftV might not have been previously aware of about our dear Henry.
At roughly 144 minutes, it clocks in at just about the maximum length for a VftV show, so regular VftV listeners will know the drill – hunker down with plenty of refreshment and enjoy!
CWF Game Cast – Episode 58
